PITCHING IN
Former Mid-Island Council candidate David Ceder, whose popularity within the borough Democratic Party knows no bounds these days, has signed on to be Spitzer's borough coordinator. We imagine that Assemblyman John Lavelle (D-North Shore), the party chairman who is particularly fond of Ceder and is close to Spitzer, may have had a hand in making the choice.
"Anything I can do for the party I'm willing to do," said Ceder.
How did the GOP let this former Republican get away, we wonder? Or, more to the point, perhaps, what does David Ceder know about the GOP that the rest of us don't?

The North Shore Waterfront Conservancy held an open meeting last night in the Walker Park fieldhouse, Livingston, to present information regarding improvements to the esplanade at the foot of Bard Avenue, West Brighton, which space is owned by a number of public agencies. Pamela Governale of Partnership for Parks introduced urban design students from City College who are developing plans to improve the esplanade. David Ceder, representing City Councilman Michael McMahon, pledged $10,000 to support the joint research and planning effort of the conservancy and Partnership for Parks. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for Nov. 28 at 7:30 in the fieldhouse. The next meeting of the conservancy is tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. For more information, visit NorthShoreWaterfront Conservancy.org.
